Jesus gave us both the Great Commandment - "love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, and love your neighbor as yourself" (Matthew 22:34-40), and the Great Commandment - "go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey all I have commanded you" (Matthew 28:19-20). He both taught and lived these commands out before the world, and is calling us - His Church - to do the same.
Here at Lifepointe, we are a family of people actively seeking to follow in Jesus' footsteps. We want to be and grow as His disciples. We want to be and become more like Jesus. That is God's intentions for us - to be conformed to the image of Christ (Romans 8:39).
So, what was Jesus like? What was He like as He lived out both the Great Commandment and the Great Commission? He was many things, but one thing we see over and over again in Scripture is that Jesus was a servant (Matthew 20:25-28; Mark 10:45; John 12:24-26; 13:12-16; and Romans 15:8). Thus, to be like Jesus is to be a servant and to have a servant's attitude in all we do. Moreover, the highest form of service is to love our neighbors as ourselves (Matthew 7:12; Romans 13:9-10). This is how we fulfill the Great Commandment: by demonstrating God's love to our neighbors, both in word and deed. It is also how we carry out the Great Commission: we make disciples of all nations by loving our neighbors, both in word and deed.
Our neighbors - both local and global - will know God's good intentions for them when we as the Church regularly, and sacrificially, love them as we love ourselves. They will see the love of God in its fullness when we love and minister to them in all realms of life -- the physical, wisdom, spiritual, and social. As the Father intended for the Son (Luke 2:52), so we are to seek for our neighbors. Thus, here at Lifepointe Church, we are committed to loving our neighbors "wholistically", from across the Quad-Cities to the utter ends of the earth.
INDIVIDUAL & FAMILY CARE
We engage needy individuals and individual households in our local community through the outreach ministry of our thrift store, HOPE'S ATTIC. We engage such individuals within our own church family through LP BENEVOLENCE. In both cases, we seek to address the root causes behind the needs represented, bringing restoration where needed to the individuals involved in each of their key relationships: with God, with self, with others, and with the rest of Creation.
For more information on Hope's Attic Thrift Store, contact Wayne Doerksen at 928-772-5007, or visit Hope's Attic at 8881 E. Valley Road, Prescott Valley, AZ 86314.
We partner with other local churches to act as a "window" to God's good intentions for each of our local communities. In the process, we seek to strengthen both the local community and those public agencies and private organizations established to deliver services to the local community. Current initiatives include our GROWING KIDS PRE-SCHOOL, ongoing "adopt-a-school" relationship with Lake Valley Elementary School (Humboldt Unified School District), annual "MegaSports Camp" in conjunction with LVES and HUSD, annual "Trunk or Treat" fall festival held in the Castle Canyon Mesa community, participation in the annual "Day of Service" with Quad-Cities area churches, and partnership in the "Orphan Care" consortium with local area churches and the AZ Department of Child Safety.
We partner with more than 25 international missionaries and mission organizations to demonstrate God's love, both in word and deed, and thereby extend His Kingdom throughout the world. This includes establishing and maintaining ongoing relationships with these international partners, as well as praying for and caring for their practical needs. It also includes educating ourselves abou the challenges of world missions and keeping up with the opportunities we have to contribute to and support these endeavors. Finally, it includes raising up our own missionaries here at Lifepointe, who will serve in these capacities - both short-term and for a career - around the world.
