Hope of Easter

First, let me say a big THANK YOU, for downloading our new church app and for choosing to read this blog. My hope is this will be a continual source of encouragement and a place where you can get a new perspective for life!

Lately, I have been experiencing a rather weird phenomenon while driving. My leg falls asleep! I mean dead leg numb! You know when it feels like your leg has become a petrified wooden log! This poses a problem for a couple of reasons first, it is my right leg! That’s right the one you use to mash on the gas peddle and the same one you use to stop the vehicle. Unless you are one of those two feet drivers. Anyways, the second issue is when I go to get out of the car, I must hop around until the feeling comes back, which by the way is one of the weirdest feelings there is.
The reason why I’m telling you this is because I think this is what happens often in our relationship with Christ! Somehow the “blood flow” gets cut off and our relationship becomes numb and lifeless! Easter is the perfect opportunity to get the “blood flow” back into your heart and relationship with Christ! Easter is all about the life, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus! More specifically it is about the power of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross and how His blood removes every sinful act, every selfish decision and makes it like I have never done anything wrong! It says in, Colossians 1:22
Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault.

We have been “brought into His presence”, talk about feeling alive! If that were not enough, we are “holy, blameless and without a single fault as we stand before Him!’ That realization should cause the hair on the back of your head to stand up and feeling to come back into your life with Christ! I believe the biggest reason why our relationship “falls asleep” is because we stop remembering the cross and the resurrected Jesus! We stop living our lives from the “joy of God’s salvation” and we go numb! King David was going through one of the greatest low points of his life! He had stolen another mans wife and had her husband murdered to cover his mistake! Psalm 51 was written by David as he deals with his failure! David writes,
“11 Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me.
12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.”

David’s relationship with God had gone numb! He could no longer feel His presence. Sometimes when we are going through hard times or we have failed for the hundredth time we can feel so distant from the Lord. It is at these times when the glorious good news of Jesus should come to the rescue in our lives! This Easter, celebrate the deep work that Christ accomplished for you! There is no need to go numb in your relationship with Jesus. He is alive, therefore there is hope! The grave is empty and that means He can fill your emptiness! He has reconciled you and therefore you can run to the Father to find strength and grace for any situation you may be facing! He has risen!
